Stages of Self Realization

In quest of finding God in this very life time one could never know different stages of self realization. The reason is apparent; journey towards self realization is an inward journey towards spirit, consciousness existing in our heart as soul atman.

As the entire spiritual journey is conducted as a trustee, a caretaker one is always so humble so as not to accept anything one achieved on spiritual platform. A true spiritual seeker always remains subdued and the prime reason for this is practice of nishkama karma yoga.

For a true nishkama karma Yogi everything all the time belonged to God Almighty. One was only a caretaker, an instrument in hands of God Almighty doing his bidding all the time. As nothing belonged to individual self, how could one guess different stages of self realization?

Furthermore a true seeker, traveler of spiritual path was never after reaching state of self realization. The only thing a seeker desires is reaching God, nothing more. This reaching of God becomes possible when a seeker works for welfare of entire community all the time.

The goal of life of a true seeker is working for the benefit of entire mankind all the time. This comes from the assumption that all were children of God. In serving entire mankind we were only serving his children. For a true seeker the entire world finally becomes one large family.

The state of self realization is always bestowed on a seeker as a byproduct of his services to mankind. Individuals who worked for their individual self realization were mistaken. Nothing of the sort existed in field of pure spirituality.

Swami Vivekananda all his life indulged in welfare of committee service, so much so that he abandoned reaching state of self realization in favour of community service. When Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa admonished him for doing so and why he had come to him if the goal of his life was not reaching God, he simply replied serving the community was his first goal of life.
