History of Bhagavad Gita in Indian context

The sacred text of Bhagavad Gita precipitated when Lord Krishna advent on mother earth in Dwapar Yuga. This was necessitated as Lord Krishna (Dharmaraja himself) had to re-establish Dharma (righteousness) against evil forces of adharma (lawlessness) baring their fangs in those times. The contents of Bhagavad Gita, entire 700 shlokas verses never dilute with time.

In ancient India (erstwhile Bharatvarsha) when highly evolved sages and Rishis became competent to invoke words from domain of God, Vedas (Hinduism revelations) were revealed to them, the first words of God Almighty on mother earth. All the four Vedas… Rig Veda, Sama Veda, Yajur Veda and Atharva Veda were voluminous documents even for scholars. Indulging in them was a mammoth task not every scholar could handle.

To reduce the burden of mankind, God Almighty sent Lord Krishna as his representative on mother earth… a savior, messiah an avatar of his era (God manifest in human form). The entire jnana wisdom contained in all four Vedas necessary for human beings to emancipate from cycle of birth and death forever was reproduced as Bhagavad Gita by Lord Krishna. Not only learned scholars but also people from all walks of life started their indulgence in Bhagavad Gita.

The contents of Bhagavad Gita in Sanskrit were easier to understand, palatable.

With coming of Bhagavad Gita it became easier for mankind to indulge in spirituality as detailed in Bhagavad Gita to reach God in their lifetime.

Every single spiritual precept necessary to realize self is contained in Bhagavad Gita. Bhagavad Gita does not lack anything on spiritual front. So much so that people belonging to any religion, faith or belief from any part of world could seriously indulge in teachings of spirituality contained in Bhagavad Gita to reach God! Converting to Hinduism or understanding Hindi was not necessitated. Commentaries on Bhagavad Gita in English from Gita press, Gorakhpur, India are commendable.

Lord Krishna came above 3650 years before. Since then and until now everything contained in Bhagavad Gita is still applicable today.

Gita press, Gorakhpur, India has many commentaries in Hindi and English both by learned scholars and also Adi Shankaracharya.

Many translations of Bhagavad Gita existed in this world but commentaries available with Gita press are not only commendable but fully trustable.

In present times for reaching God one single scripture Bhagavad Gita suffices. One need not refer even Upanishads (independent spiritual treatises).

The treatise by Lord Krishna is unparalleled and would continue to be number one scripture of the world forever.
