Despite ultimate goal of life being reaching state of moksha, the entire world seemed engaged otherwise. None wanted to indulge in spirituality to reach God in their lifetime. Probably the journey of spirituality is too difficult to handle. The answer is yes, it is really difficult to indulge in sacred text of Bhagavad Gita followed by Upanishads (independent spiritual treatises) if so necessitated.
Swami Vivekananda who remained a bachelor throughout gave a fitting lesson to mankind that to indulge in spirituality and reach God in their lifetime they had an example to follow, his own. But people world over were more interested in material pursuits of life including establishing a family. Are people to blame, not in the least as detailed in Bhagavad Gita!
Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita says Brahman God himself does not desire people reaching him early, prime reason why he designed journey of spirituality a long one. As we can see in the last about 150 years amongst 7000 million people existing world over only Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharshi Ramana finally succeeded in reaching God.
Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa was married but continued indulging in spirituality all the way. Maharshi Ramana was a bachelor like Swami Vivekananda from the very beginning.
Practicing spirituality when married is really tough, prime reason why Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita says that one who practices spirituality even while in family is the biggest Yogi of all.
Brahman, God imbibed all human beings with free will, power of discrimination based on which we can decide for ourselves the journey of life we wanted to take. In field of pure spirituality there never was a compulsion ever. The doors of God are open to one and all belonging to any religion, faith or belief.
The best part of Bhagavad Gita is any human being world over even while following ones religion, faith or belief can indulge in teachings of spirituality contained in Bhagavad Gita to reach cosmic end of life, state of enlightenment, self realization god realization followed by moksha salvation.
Furthermore if people want to enjoy worldly life before embarking on spiritual journey they are free to do so.
