Origin of the word Spirituality

The word spirituality originated from root word spirit, the underlying cosmic energy that existed in all living beings as Prana, soul atman within.

As per Bhagavad Gita we were primarily a spiritual being, a cosmic traveler manifesting human form. As a spirit, consciousness within we manifested human form to cleanse self of dross impurities within.

The removal of dross from a soul atman is possible only in human form. By itself no soul atman could purify self. It needs a medium, a body to work out its karma.

The moment souls atmans manifested human body for the first time, it desires regaining its lost original pure prime pristine primordial form at the earliest. When human beings were truthful the voice of soul atman, spirit coming from within our heart says indulge in spirituality.

It is only by indulgence in spirituality human beings reached state of enlightenment. Keeping busy in religious activities (rituals) gained nothing on spiritual platform. Religious practices never led mankind towards god. God can be reached only by indulgence in spirituality.

Reaching state of enlightenment announces a soul atman gaining absolute purity forever. Reaching God, realizing self, realizing God all meant the same.

For a seeker, traveler of spiritual path remaining 100% truthful all the time is a must. Only then we could hear dictates of spirit, soul atman coming from within our heart. Guided by voice of this soul atman human beings finally dissolved inherent queries within.

Spirituality was all about indulging in contemplation (chintan) to reach the hidden underlying meaning of sacred texts. Only then we could dissolve queries within. Path of jnana yoga (absolute wisdom) is necessitated to scuttle darkness of ignorance forever.

Jnana yoga is indulged understanding gist of Bhagavad Gita, the underlying hidden meanings.

The only purport of path of spirituality is dissolving queries within. The moment all queries within dissolved forever one immediately reaches state of Nirvikalpa Samadhi (absolute nothingness), when not a single thought entered our brain uninvoked. This is the state of enlightenment when in absence of dross impurities within a soul atman finally reaches state of absolute purity.

Path of spirituality is totally distinct from religious practices that have nothing to do with god. Ritually praying to God, indulging in worship of gods and goddesses does not mean anything.

God is reached only by indulgence in spirituality as detailed in Bhagavad Gita.
