Spirituality is not something that could be experienced. Spirituality is practiced indulging in contemplation (chintan) most of time. There never were different ways to practice Spirituality.
Practicing spirituality means indulging in sacred texts, scriptures of different religions of world to realize their hidden inner meaning. Travelling path of jnana yoga (absolute wisdom) is necessitated to cut darkness of ignorance, solve queries within.
Indulgence in scriptures does not mean gaining anything knowledgeable. All the wisdom contained in scriptures had only one purpose, how to solve queries within, dissolve them forever.
The moment all queries within a human being dissolved forever, one immediately reaches stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi (absolute nothingness) when not a single thought entered our brain uninvoked.
The word spirituality stems from the root word spirit, consciousness existing in us as our soul atman. As detailed in Bhagavad Gita we are primarily a spirit, a spiritual traveler on its cosmic life cycle of 8.4 million manifestations to cleanse self of dross impurities within.
The manifest human form is only a medium for soul atman within to cleanse itself prominently.
The whole purport of spirituality is regaining our lost pure prime pristine primordial form, become a pure soul atman forever. This becomes possible when indulging in scriptures we succeed negating karma to zero forever. In absence of dross impurities within the need for a soul atman to manifest human body any further ceases to exist.
Mahavira followed his inner sense to gain emancipation from cycle of birth and death forever and so did Gautama Buddha. Even Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed followed the same path. The ultimate goal of life on mother earth for all human beings is becoming a pure soul atman again. This becomes possible when human beings indulged in spirituality not religion (path of rituals).
To travel spiritual path successfully the first step is demolition of ego in totality. By reducing our desires and wishes in stages, we can finally overpower five senses and mind.
Furthermore, practicing absolute celibacy for a minimum period of 12 years in continuation we can awaken our kundalini energy fully, the coiled Serpentine energy lying dormant in base of spine.
Full awakening of kundalini, reaching state of Nirvikalpa Samadhi announces one becoming an enlightened one, a bodhi, a Jina… a Mahavira forever.
Spirituality is a full-time job; it could never be practiced in part-time if our goal of present life is reaching God in present life time. Otherwise we can indulge in spirituality as time permits.
If we seriously desire reaching God in present life time as did all enlightened people, our becoming a Swami Vivekananda in real life is an absolute must.
Spirituality is best practiced following dictates contained in 700 shlokas verses of Bhagavad Gita.
All enlightened souls that manifest on mother earth after advent of Lord Krishna indulged in teachings of Bhagavad Gita to become an enlightened one.
