Reading or listening to Bhagavad Gita does not serve any purpose, we never gained anything spiritually. Spirituality was all about taking the inner journey towards the spirit existing in our heart as soul atman. The inward journey demands our indulgence in contemplation (chintan) to reach a hidden underlying meaning of sacred text contained in Bhagavad Gita.
No matter how best we try, we can never understand anything in Bhagavad Gita literally. I have come across various people some of whom said they had located many principles of management in Bhagavad Gita. These ignorant people failed to realize that what use becoming a Bill Gates or a Warren Buffett if we have to keep rotating in endless cycles of birth and death.
Spirituality is all about emancipating self from cycle of birth and death forever. We can successfully indulge in spirituality only via contemplation (chintan); there was no shortcut path to reaching jnana wisdom contained in Bhagavad Gita. The sacred text of Bhagavad Gita is a spiritual compendium having nothing to do with religious or day-to-day affairs of life.
As per Bhagavad Gita we are primarily a spiritual traveler on its cosmic life cycle of 8.4 million manifestations. The ultimate goal of life for all souls’ atmans and also human beings is regaining lost original pure prime pristine primordial form at the earliest. This can be done indulging in teachings of Bhagavad Gita. And Bhagavad Gita can be understood only through contemplation.
Before indulging in Bhagavad Gita we must master art of contemplation in absence of which nothing in field of spirituality ever becomes clear. Even sacred texts like Bible and Quran demand indulgence in contemplation which people in West failed to do so. Prime reason why seekers in West never try to become like Jesus Christ or Prophet Mohammed!
Mahavira (24th Tirthankara of Jainism, preceptor) categorically stated that every single human being on mother earth had the spark of divinity within to become a Mahavira, Gautama Buddha even Jesus Christ or Prophet Mohammed. Why pray to these enlightened souls when we can become one?
