Does Bhagavad Gita say love and affection are root causes of sorrow

Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita says any type of earthly bondages were a hindrance to spiritual progress. This includes family relationships including our friends, relatives and others.

For a seeker, traveler of spiritual path, one who wanted to reach God in present life time all types of bondages had to be cut in totality. This is not necessitated for those uninterested in spirituality.

Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita further says expectations from our close members of family and even others were the main cause of sorrow. If we lessen our expectations, sorrows gradually minimized.

If we closely observe all successful people in different walks of life, including seekers, travelers of spiritual path we shall find that all had minimized their bondages within the family and outside.

It is true that love and affection breeds sorrow. Lesser bondages minimum sorrows.

Bhagavad Gita is primarily a spiritual treatise and deals only with spiritual aspect of life. If our goal of life is spiritual then definitely bondage of love and affection has to be cut in totality. Desires and wishes have to be minimized, only then we can reduce our ego and also karma to zero.

People with lesser ego had minimal family attachments. They were more successful in life compared to others.

Why love and affection breeds sorrow is explained by Bhagavad Gita. As per Bhagavad Gita we are primarily a spirit, consciousness manifesting human body. As a spirit we desire reaching state of absolute purity. This becomes possible when we dismantled all bodily attachments forever.

Love and affection is part of attachments one carried towards other beings. Bodily relationships carried no meaning in spiritual world, prime reason why Siddhartha Gautama left for confines of forests touching feet of wife and child. A spiritual traveler was aloof from all feelings of sorrow.
