As a general rule journey toward self realization must be started early in age. Mahavira, Gautama Buddha even Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed all started in pursuit of god early in age. All wanted to unveil the hidden cosmic truths of life that lay hidden in sacred texts of scriptures of different religions of world.
The earlier we start our indulgence in spirituality, the better. We can start as early as two years of age. This is what Lord Krishna need. He probably started his journey of spirituality two years of age. Only then he could become an avatar of his era (God manifest in human form).
Even Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharshi Ramana started their pursuit of god at an early age. Journey of spirituality can never be covered successfully part-time as most human beings world over did. Journey of spirituality demands 100% indulgence every second of life.
From six years of age I indulged in contemplation (chintan) at least 10 hours every single day. Even when I was walking, jogging, swimming, indulging in studies and sports and even while conducting business I could successful indulge in contemplation (chintan) at the highest level.
My goal of life at six years of age was fixed, of reaching God in present life time. Around nine years of age I finally decided not to rotate myself in endless cycles of birth and death.
Around 15 years of age I asked my mother permission for going to deep dense forests, confines of Himalayas to meditate, indulge in contemplation in isolation. She bluntly refused and said, over my dead body. Since then I continued my spiritual pursuit even while living in the family.
31 years of indulgence in spirituality I finally reached portals of God in the wee hours of third of August 1993 37 years of age. This is my last manifestation on mother earth.
As a self realized person I can say with conviction do not while away precious earthly journey indulging in meaningless religious pursuits (rituals). If you are serious about spirituality indulge in it wholeheartedly otherwise live life like JRD Tata, a trustee Karma Yogi of the highest order.
