The biggest misnomer of present times is God can be realized going to a spiritual centre or under guidance of a spiritual master. It has rightly been said, the journey towards self realization is an inward journey having nothing to do with an external medium, a spiritual centre.
As the inner journey demands our indulgence in contemplation (chintan) something we avoided, we preferred taking a shortcut method of visiting a so-called spiritual centre for an ashram. Maharshi Ramana and also Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa repeatedly said indulge in self enquiry to reach state of self realization. Again self enquiry is an inward process.
Why should we fear indulging in contemplation (chintan)? No doubt the process of contemplation is difficult yet not impossible. Why go to a spiritual centre when our accomplishments would always remain zero! Spirituality is a field that demands internal speculation, introspection. We can dissolve queries within only via contemplation (chintan). There was no other method to dissolve queries within. Indulging in Satsanga we tried dissolving queries within.
