Any kind of worship to Lord Shiva does not result in attaining moksha liberation. Mukti, liberation from cycle of birth and death is gained indulging in spirituality as detailed in Bhagavad Gita. Lord Shiva is only an attribute of Brahman, God Almighty having nothing to do with absolute reality.
Enlightenment followed by moksha is gained when we learnt the distinction between spirituality and religion. Lord Shiva relates to religion (path of rituals) indulging in which one never reaches God. In the entire history of mankind people indulging in religious practices never reached god.
It is not religious but spiritual pursuit of life that paves way for reaching state of enlightenment, moksha salvation.
While following spirituality we realize the importance of contacting Lord Krishna within. This we can easily do provided we succeed demolishing our ego in totality. Those who are not capable of demolishing their ego in totality must never indulge in spirituality whatsoever.
Through prayers, worship of any kind none world over ever reached state of enlightenment, moksha salvation.
State of enlightenment, moksha salvation is realized only by negating karma to zero. Negation of karma to zero means removing dross impurities within our soul atman in totality. This seems simple but takes many decades to complete the journey.
The foremost of all requirements in the journey of spirituality is demolition of ego in totality. By reducing our desires and wishes in stages we can overpower ego forever. We also need working like a trustee, a caretaker for whom everything all the time belonged to God Almighty. Unless we indulged in nishkama karma yoga we could never demolish ego in totality successfully.
Nishkama karma yoga plays a very vital role on path of pure spirituality.
